My short film screenplay "Taif" has won the Honorable Mention Award at the Open Screenplay Competition in Canada, in the category of Best Short Film Screenplay 2023.
This achievement marks an important milestone in my journey as a writer and filmmaker, reflecting my strong commitment to shedding light on critical social issues.
The screenplay Taif tells the story of the struggles faced by families of children with special educational needs in Lebanon. It portrays their ongoing fight to access fair and adequate services and to provide their children with a mentally healthy and supportive life, despite the lack of sufficient resources and support in the environment.
Through Taif, I aimed to give a voice to this marginalized group, showing their challenges with honesty and transparency, hoping that the film would raise public awareness and motivate stakeholders to take real steps toward improving their situation.
This recognition from Open Screenplay reinforces my belief that cinema is a powerful tool for change, and that carefully crafted words and true stories can touch hearts and make a difference.
I am grateful to everyone who has supported me on this creative journey, and I look forward to completing this work and turning it into a compelling short film that reaches a wide audience.
